CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
General classes in following age groups Tinies (5&U), Primarys (6&U8), Sub-juniors (8&U10), Juniors (10&U12). These classes are all jazz, tap, lyrical combined offering students a basic skill base in all genres. Age groups are a guide only.
Intermediates (12&U14), Pre-Seniors (14&U16), Seniors U18, Seniors Over 18. These classes include jazz, lyrical, contemporary and musical theatre.
Classical only – a technical class in classical ballet to further enhance the classical technique of dancers. The CSTD Classical Syllabus is used as a basis for the technique. Offered in Primary, Junior, Inter, Pre-Senior and Senior age groups.
Tap only – a technical class in tap dance to further enhance tap technique. Various styles are studied including straight tap, street tap & Latin rhythms – the CSTD Tap Syllabus is used as a basis for the technique. Offered as a separate class in Inters, Pre-Seniors and Seniors age groups.
Hip Hop – a class specializing in different hip hop styles. Offered in Primary/Sub, Junior/Inter/Pre and Senior age groups.
Acrobatics – a class specializing in acrobatics and tumbling with an emphasis on dance. We are an Acrobatic Arts trained faculty. Offered in Petits Age Group in Beginner and Intermediate Levels (U10’s) and then on a development basis with classes for Beginners 10+, Intermediates 10+, Advanced 14&U and Advanced 15+.
Cheer – a class specializing in Pom dancing, with a touch of acrobatics. Classes offered in Youth Age (5&U12) and Junior Age (13+).
Lyrical/Contemporary – a class for those who are looking for extra lyrical and contemporary technique. Offered to 8-14 years.
Boyz Crew – a boyz only dance class specializing in different styles such as hip hop, breakdance, street tap, acrobatics and jazz. Offered to 12&U.
Adults Hip Hop, Tap and Jazz – separate classes or do them all, developing skills in the 3 different genres, exercising and making friends. Suitable for the advanced dancer and the beginner.
ALL OF THE ABOVE CLASSES ARE CONCERT CLASSES – LEARNING ROUTINES TO PERFORM IN OUR SEPTEMBER PRODUCTION AND DECEMBER CABARET PERFORMANCES.
Technique – a class for the dance enthusiast who wants more!!! Run by a rotating roster of our faculty sharing their different skills in strength and conditioning, classical ballet, modern jazz, stretching, cardio, jumps, turns, kicks. 12+
CSTD Modern Jazz Exams – offered in most Grade levels, with student’s expected to sit an annual exam.
CSTD Classical Exams – level determined by the dancer, with student’s expected to sit an annual exam.
CSTD Tap Exams – offered in several grades, following the brand new CSTD Tap Syllabus, student’s expected to sit an annual exam.
Competition Solos/Duos/Trios and Troupes – all competition classes are separate classes to above and participants are by invitation only. Please register your interest with your teacher to be considered for competitions.
